Irwandi Optimistic Flooding in Gunung Sahari can Be Overcome

The pump that has 1,000 liters per second capacity are located in Gunung Sahari area

Central Jakarta Acting Mayor Irwandi, monitored the condition of the Rajawali Selatan Pump House and Industry in the Gunung Sahari area, Sawah Besar, on Monday (2/1).

According to him, the pump units in the two pump houses had been added and were expected to be able to solve the problem of flooding when heavy rains fell.

"The pump that has 1,000 liters per second capacity are located in Gunung Sahari area," he stated.

The mayor was also slated to conduct an evaluation when heavy rains fell in the area.

"We'll monitor again when rain pours, hopefully no flash floods from Ciliwung River. If the water is high, it will be accommodated at the drain and then will be flowed into the retention pond," he explained.

Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head Ahmad Saiful explained the pump with 1,000 liters per second capacity reached industrial areas, settlements around Gunung Sahari road, and Gunung Sahari road on the west and east sides.

"The coverage area is quite wide, which is our consideration to install a pump on Jalan Gunung Sahari with 1,000 liters per second capacity," he explained.

He added the pump was installed since a few days ago and had been tested during heavy rains that occurred a few days ago.

"Alhamdulillah no flooding after the additional pump engine is activated," he stated.
